Ko Samui Bophut
 

Hi Guys

We're in Ko Samui in AUG 05 and we are not to sure where to stay. Peace Resort is our 1st choice but we are not sure if we would be better suited to a place in chaweng. Can some one tell us how far it is from Bophut to Chaweng beach and what is the main source of public transport between the two places?

Also can anyone recommend a comfortable accomadation for approx 2000-3000 BHT a night in Chaweng?

By car it's about 10 - 15 minutes to Chaweng from Bophut. There are taxis, and there are things similar to small buses that I can't for the life of me think of the name of...but they are there.

Why do you think you might be happier in Chaweng?

i did not see any regular taxis, but only the bus/pick-up truck type transportation...they stop at the end of peace's drive...

peace is very quiet...it is very nice, but not lux there...the food is good and cheap...the pool is exceptional...if you are young you might want more "action" in town...bophut has some nice bars however...its a 10 minute walk from peace...

We thought there might be more to do Chaweng and was afraid we would be bored in a too quiet spot in Bophut.

Can anyone recommend a place closer to Chaweng but not smack in the middle of the night life strip?

it is easy to get into Chaweng from Bophut. The last time we went there were loads of taxis going along Bophut. Used to be that you took a songthaew(sp?) but there were not so many about. Both options are cheap. We only went into Chaweng a couple of times in the evening as there are a growing amount of quality restaurants and bars in Fishermans Village.Personally I found Chaweng depressing the last time we went- too busy and too overbuilt( but some great restaurants!)If I was 20 again I might love it though!

I think Chaweng is depressing too.

we went only once and thought it was over built, boring and too honky tonk, although there are a number of good hotels in the town....

as it is so easy to get to that area i would think anyone would be delighted with staying along bophut...
