Ko Phangan - Full Moon Party
I am staying on Ko Samui from Sept. 7-10 and plan on attending the Full Moon Party on Ko Phangan on Sept. 7. I was considering booking a room for the night of the 7th on Ko Phangan, but was hoping to just take the boat back when I get too exhausted. Anyone have any experience taking a boat back to Samui in the middle of the night? Thanks!

Depends on when you leave. The boats start after midnight. The early boats are not too crowded, but then the lines start. By sunrise you can wait hours for a boat.
Are you sure you want to watch 20,000 stoned out drunks trash a beautiful beach? Its more of a drug party than anything. I did it once out of curiosity. That was enough. |
my daughter stayed on Ko Pha Ngan, but on the quiet side. She said it was interestin to experience the party, but they were happy to walk 'home' after a short while and wouldn't go back.

i went to the full moon party 2 years ago...we went early, had dinner, the beach was deserted...then nitefall came,
the music and lights boomed on....and the kids came in by land and sea... 1000's of fun loving, dope smoking, firedancing kids...yes they left a beach full of garbage... but it was interesting...i left by 11pm and my daughter and friend stayed till the sun came up... i recommend you stay the nite of the party..most places have a minimum nite stay during the full moon...i would not want to take the ferry or boat at night ...there have been horror stories about the crossing and accidents .... have fun, be safe and pickup garbage |
I really need to do a full trip report for my Thailand trip back in September, but just wanted to follow up here - the full moon party was EXCELLENT. I would absolutely recommend this as a must see. Koh Phangan has some beautiful resorts and wonderful beaches. The full moon party is a truly memorable experience!
