klong tour
Haaded for Thailand for the first time. I have seen klong tours mentioned. Is that a specific tour, or is it just getting on a boat and riding around? Any special one that is good? Thanks! Pat

usually it is a sort of regular route through the klongs (canals) of thornburi which is the side of the river that the peninsula and marriott and hilton hotels are located on...it take 2-3 hours and may include stops at an orchid farm, the king's boat museum and wat arun....cost about 400 B per hour for the boat...
boats can be gotten at taskim pier (end of the skytrain) or near the shangri-la hotel pier....if you are staying on the river your hotel can get you one to and from the hotel directly....they are also available from behind river city shopping center at the boat kisok.. its lots of fun and you see another side of bkk |
thanks so much! Just the kind of info I need! Pat

Our one went around the klongs/canals then ended up after about 1 hour at the Wat Arun. Then the Royal Barge museum which was interesting.
Five years ago I did the tour and it stopped at the snake farm which they say they cut out because various tourists weren't happy with that. I must say the barge museum was interesting but we stayed about 20 mins. more than any of us were interested in. Altogether a 1/2 day trip. leaving at 7:30/8:00 am returning around 11:30am. |
when i go from the marriott, i ask the bellmen to get me a boat and they call someone and one comes quite quickly....others have had a problem so they had to go to taskim, but they will take you back to the hotel at the end if you tell them that....have the person at taskim tell them---language barrier...
