Hi Katie, Just did a quick "trip" through Nepal and then skimmed the various pics of Bangkok, Angkor Wat and Chaing Mai. Will go back when I have more time.(When ever that will be!!) Was pleased to find a picture of you in K. It is always more satisfying to read a comment if you can picture the person making it. Your comments about Thailand have been helpful as I plan my February 2009 trip. Ciao!!mhm

Great Photos, Cheryl. Your photos and Kathie's TP whet my appetite for a destination I wasn't previously interested in.
Is there the possiblity of an altitude problem there? Polly |
Kathie, I have just started to work through the photos and they are great. I will savor them bit by bit during the coming week.

Polly, Kathmandu is at about 4500 feet, so no problems with altitude in the valley or even up on the nearby ridges. No question, it's a fascinating destination.
I'm glad you're enjoying the photos, Craig. I'll convey your comments to Cheryl. She appreciates the feedback. Kathmandu is really sensory overload, and the photos convey only a small part of that. Cheryl recorded the guides we hired with a tiny digital recorder. We we were trying to find a particular piece of information yesterday, so were listening to our Patan guide. I recalled Patan Durbar Square as relatively quiet and was surprised at all of the auditory stimulation even there. We laughed about how quickly we became accustomed to the cacophony. |
Very interesting place and photos! The buildings are ornate, and the narrow streets look very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
