Kathie, do you have thoughts about this?

"We are planning a 6 week trip to southeast Asia, and people on this forum were kind enough to suggest 2 different river cruises. I am wondering which one of these would be better: The Luang Say Mekong Cruise (Houeisay to Luang Prabang, 2 days, 1 night) or the Pandaw Mekong Memories Cruise (Irawaddy Flotilla Company, Saigon to Phnom Penh, 2 nights)? I am concerned about doing both of these since these may provide similar experiences. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated."

I've not been on either cruise, but I've looked into both. I would expect them to be entirely different experiences, so you could do both and not feel it was the same thing all over again.

You might want to consider a longer cruise such as the Pandaw Mekong or one of the week long Pandaw cruises in Burma instead of two shorter cruises.

Kathie, Thanks for your input. I also posted a 6 week itinerary for Southeast Asia a couple of days ago and am wondering if you would take a look at it and give me your thoughts.

Roosevelt, I'd missed your previous post, but now left you a comment.

Also, I just noticed that I recommended (above) the Pandaw cruise in Burma - obviously, I mean the longer Pandaw Mekong cruise since you aren't going to Burma.

I would have thought that a more appropriate title would be 'Dogster, do you have thoughts on this?', seeing as I'm the only one in here that has been on both cruises - and another eight river cruises in S.E. Asia .

Ahh, but no. Better to ask someone who hasn't been on ANY of them. If you'd answered my reply you might just have got the very information you need - AND more besides. Now I'm not going to help at all. I'm sulking, I've gone to my kennel and I'm NOT COMING OUT!

Hrrumph. Ptoooey. Bah.

Now, now, dogster, don't sulk. No doubt roosevelt didn't know you'd been on both cruises. And I was clear I hadn't been on the cruises.

Be a nice doggy and come back out and tell roosevelt all those details about the cruises that I can't and others can't.

From inside Dogster's little green house I can hear the sound of sobbing... I can just make out his muffled words...

'No-o-o-body listens to me-e-e-e...'

Oh, this is ghastly. Such a fine animal, reduced to a gibbering wreck. Shame on you roosevelt.

dogster is such a sensitive soul that you'll have to coax him out of his dog house, roosevelt. Perhaps a doggie treat?

roosevelt Jan 22nd, 2009 05:13 PM

No insult intended to anybody. It just seems like a lot of time to spend on boats. So, if I am choosing one over the other, does anybody (and I mean Dogster too) have a thought? I appreciate all help that is offered on this forum.

I think what roosevelt meant to say was: does anybody, ESPECIALLY dogster, have a thought?

(Sometimes you just gotta throw him a bone!)
