Kamala Beach Hotel or Holiday Inn Phuket??

I'm trying to make decision over which might be the best. We are going with our 6 year old daughter. Holiday Inn Phuket really sounds like a great hotel. I have a Seaview Room reserved at Kamala Beach, which is about $97 US; Holiday Inn is about $123 US (for a Superior room not a seaview)if you pay 30 days in advance. Anyone stayed in either have a recomendation? Will being in the Patong area be a benefit over the Kamala beach? More options or more chaos?

Kamala is a quieter area, with kind of a small beach town feel, but still plenty of good restaurants - and a superiour beach to Patong (particularly on the north end, just north of the KBR).

The Holiday Inn is a superior resort to the KBR, but the beach can be super crowded and Patong is not everyone's cup of tea (certainly not mine!).

As you are with family, I would suggest Kamala Beach. The crowded sidewalks of Patong aren't so six-year-old-compatible.

personally i would not stay in patong....way too busy and honky-tonk....HI was badly damaged in the tsamuni.....its location is across from the beach but surrounded by shops, etc....not that great, so with a child it would not be my choice!!

Were you saying Kamala Beach Resort was badly damaged in the tsunami? I don't understand which island HI is, is it Patong? or Kamala? Seems like Patong is going to be hectic, though the Hoiliday Inn may be nice. If Kamala has sufficient restaurants etc. I may be happy to go with it, but if it was badly damaged, or if the area was badly damaged I'm not sure sure of Kamala Beach location. One review described it as depressing, but many other say it is nice.

HI = Holiday Inn

All the places you are talking about are on Phuket, just different beaches.

I agree, I wouldn't recommend Patong with a child. (Actually, I wouldn't recommend Patong at all, but it is a matter of perosnal preference.)

Holiday Inn great for your daughter-there are lots of kids around -good for only children.There is a babysitting facility and lots of other activities for kids.It is very much a luxury family hotel.
If you are like us if your child is happy you are happy!!

Cannot comment on the other hotel.
