Just returned-Historic China trip

Returned 1/25 from China Focus - Historic China trip and will be more than willing to share tips on what to pack or what we did. Highly recommend China Focus --can't be beat for the price or quality of the experience.

Remember to pack for the weather--it can be very cold in Beijing!

I am going to Beijing first time in April. Have only 10 days, and am focusing on a biking vacation. Actually trying to get information on the mountains bordering Mongolia. Have any information?

I am a retired architect and therefore interested in architecture of China and was wondering if your trip focused on this. Please let me know.

Judy,
I was just looking at the Historic China trip. China Focus accept check for deposit and payment. No credit cards. That makes my husband feel uneasy. Please advise.
I am excited to hear someone had a wonderful time on this tour that we are considering. We had never been to China and would like to experience the old and modern China. Thanks.

Cerise,

You are going to have a great time in
China - just make sure not going to a
tour between 9/30 ~ 10/7, the period of
Chinese national holiday. All major
attractions throughout the country will
be way overcrowded. It happened during
5/1~5/7, another national holiday.

Dear Judy,I am planning a trip to Beijing around January 15, 2001. What would you recommend that I pack, see, eat, buy, try, private tour guides, and avoid?! I've been to Barrow Alaska in the winter,so I know I'll need warm clothes, but what type of things did you take? What do you recommend for a first time China visitor? Thanks, Jane

I am a Chinese Herbalist that brings students to Beijing each year for 2 weeks the 1st week of November to study and sightsee. Last year I stayed 7 weeks to study in the Hospitals and experience more of the culture there. I found this time of year to be perfect in temperature, but when Dec. 10 or therre abouts came, it was like a snap of cold weather. The wind was intense and the cold ripped thru you. Every woman wore silk long johns to keep warm and winter coats can be bought very inexpensively so you wouldn't have to pack one that is big. There is a Reflexology Institute where you can get 1 1/2 hour foot and calf massage by expert acupressurists or full body massage (with your clothes on) for about $20. It was an incredible experience and after all the walking and hiking, a welcomed treat. The city offers so much and it is always an adventure. From the Muslim Resturants that have belly dancers and great lamb pizzas to the shopping and art galleries. It becomes additive...Laura

we're going to China and Tibet Oct.27-Nov.17. We're told to take vitamins as well as prescriptions in original bottles. Too cumbersome for vitamins!!! Any tips? All packing trips welcomed.
thanks in advance.

Wow, this thread is really historic. :p

travelwithasthma,
You don't need to pack your vitamins in their original containers. You don't even really need to do it with your prescriptions, but you can just to on the safe side. Have a great trip!
