Just one afternoon/evening in Bangkok
 

We will have the afternoon and evening in Bangkok on the return from our Vietnam tour. I've been to Bangkok 2-3 times before, so have been to all the most famous tourist sites. Any ideas for our time there?

How about a decadent spa treatment and a fabulous dinner?

Go to visit Asiatique The Riverfront , take BTS to Saphan Taksin station and catch free Asiatique shuttle boat from SaThorn pier.

Thanks for both suggestions. Kathie--any recommendations for a good waterfront restaurant? I think last time I was there, we ate on the outdoor patio of the Oriental Hotel, which was pretty nice.

It's hard to beat the Oriental's restaurants.

Just to let everyone know how it turned out. President Obama was in Bangkok that day, so we couldn't get on the river or anywhere in the vicinity where he was visiting. We ended up going to the weekend market, and had a great time. Then back to the hotel for a swim and dinner in a little restaurant nearby.
