Just back from Cambodia

Our trip to Siem Reap was the highlight of our 15 day trip to Southeast Asia. The reason the trip was so fabulous was that Mony, our guide, On (spelling?), our driver, and Sok Thea, the office manager, were exemplary. They made our trip the best it could be. Mony's knowledge of Cambodian history and details of the temples was very impressive. Whenever I asked a question he would always answer in a thorough and entertaining way. His English and communication skills were excellent. He was very patient and never rushed us through the temples. Instead he let us take our time while taking over 20 rolls of film and asking countless questions. We always felt relaxed and comfortable, and we always had fun. We always felt very safe riding on the roads with On. He was always very friendly, helpful, and on time. Sok Thea did an excellent job fielding our many pre-trip planning questions. He promptly responded to our e-mails and even made special payment arrangements to make things easier for us. I appreciated his help very much and felt very good about our visit based on my pre-trip e-mail "conversations" with him.
I whole-heartedly recommend Mony, On, and Sok Thea's Angkor Adventures. I would love to return to Cambodia just to see the three of them again.
If you want to hear more about our trip you could send mail to my e-mail address. Meg

Hi, Scharl. I'm considering a guide while in Cambodia and would appreciate some info. I'll be travelling alone and am wondering how large your group was and what the rates were for guide & driver. Were both needed? I'm going on a close budget but your praise of your arrangement sounds good. Thanks.
Norm

Just got back from Cambodia as a single person. Tour guide is $20 per day, car is $20 per day and motorbike driver is $10 per day. It's pretty standard and well worth it.

You can use a motorbike on the first day or two - but you need a car to get to back country.

BTW - the cost of admission is $40 for 3 days and $60 for one week. Bring lots of singles and fives. US$ is the major currency.

They also sell guidebooks at Angkor Wat for a lot cheaper than in the US - so you can purchase it there.
