Tripgirl....glad to hear all the planning worked out and there were no surprises. Robinson may not be perfect but he's earnest to a fault from my experience. Im also glad you felt the same about the Intercontinental as I did. I could have sat and watched the harbor traffic all day! ai lost your email so if you want to talk further about the trip send me an email.

We will be leaving for Asia in 2 weeks. Hong kong Xian and the Beijing and then on. We will be in Beijing for 5 days and we have a pick up at the airport to the Penisula. The couple we are traveling with arranged the Beijing part of the trip through a friend in Hong Kong but it seems from reading the info here we are way overpaying. Transfer to to the Penn for four 180 usd
one day to the Grat Wall in Ming tombs l80usd for four andone day to Tiananmen Square etc.160usd. I 'm not sure if we can renegotiate or change plans since they don't want to insult their friend. Anybody have any ideas?

diangolf,
Who did this friend book your transfer and tours through? I'd be surprised if the Peninsula hotel itself charged that much for an airport transfer.

How do I get in touch with Robinson Li?
"on the internet" doesn't give me much information. I am going w/o a tour in 2 weeks and would like to get in touch with him if you say he is good.

MaryJ

You can contact him at [email protected]

Tripgirl, Lindsay and myself had a positive experience with him while some others have not. I recommend him enthusiastically however you should tell him via email exactly what your trip requirements are, what youd like to see and that you defineately want him to be the driver. As I mentioned before, he is a driver and while he was eager to please he is not a tour guide. Feel free to email me with any specific questions.

I hired Robinson Li and found him delightful!!! Based on consu10t advice I negotiated a rate for him and a rate for another driver. We got him.

I took the opportunity to ask about his services and the problems that others on this board have had. He said that he has 7 drivers working for him. He requires them to be clean, curtious, and drive safely. He tries to teach them english but once they learn a lot they usually find a job with one of the tour companies. He very much wants to make people happy but repeatedly states his only services are being a driver. His phone rings all the time so if you have another driver, you can speak with him if you need something. I was impressed that he is a good businessman and wanted to avoid unhappy customers. I would hire him again!!
