Johnny Hillwalker Kyoto

Anyone actually done his walking tours? How about used his wife's? private guide option? I sent them an e-mail 2 weeks ago and have had no reply.

KJ - I did his walking tour when I was in Kyoto in '06 - I found it interesting for the insight he gave about old Kyoto as well as the craftspeople that work there now. The sights he took us to are not the main tourist ones. I highly recommend it. I don't know anything about his private tours....

i really enjoyed his tour. just showed up and joined. there were 6 of us total and he spent 5 hours with us. the sights are off the beaten path. if you are short on time, it may not be appropriate since he doesn't go to "wow must see" places, but I learned a lot more about the society and history of kyoto. for the amount of energy he puts in, it's a great deal for $20.

lerasp - Six of you, what time of year was that? When I went in late March '06, there must have been close to 30....
