Jodhpur - Udaipur Drive Cost

Just wondering if anyone has some recent prices for a Car and Driver from Jodhpur to Udaipur.

We were quoted 120Euros - 6300INR for the one day trip with a stop at Ranakpur.

From my prior research and from previous quotes in this forum this seems quite high. Perhaps costs have raised considerably recently?!

Kind Regards

I have not gotten a quote for that precise route, but based on other prices I have been quoted that does not sound out of line. That is a very long drive, and prices are quoted based on distance. What kind of car is that for? I have been told to get at least a Toyota qualis (a kind of SUV) or the newer model Innova, a mini-van that is supposed to be quite roomy. Not sure if this helps...

When I asked for the quote, I also asked what kind of vehicle it would be. However the reply made no mention of the type of car! Possibly an oversight on their part.

Yes thats quite high. I just paid in January 2600r from Udaipur to Jodhpur including stops at Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh Fort in an non air con car. I booked this a day in advance directly from my hotel in Udaipur.

for a qualis i am being quoted 6 rp per kilometer, plus there are some pretty substantial road taxes assessed by each state...that adds up quickly...

Ask for a Maruti Esteem. They are excellent cars, & should be cheaper & more comfortable (unless you're super-big/tall) than a Qualis. We had a Maruti Esteem 3 full days & it was a great touring vehicle.

kellyee21 got a good price. You'll usually be paying for a return trip for the driver, but the rate you've been quoted is far too high, imho. Try to bargain with them.

Us foreigners get overcharged at EVERY opportunity and India's PM is doing something about it. He plans to legislate against current two tier pricing so that foreigners don't get ripped off on accom, entrance fees, etc. GREAT NEWS!

BTW we paid 4800 rupees all inclusive for a Maruti Esteem for 3 full days, Jaipur to Udaipur in late Dec 2004. Would possibly be 8000 rupees now!
