Japanese ryokan

Upcoming trip to Kyoto for 3 days and have opportunity to stay at Yoshi-ima Inn located in Gion area. Any suggestions or has anyone done this before?

Looks like it might be nice. Good location. I see that the place is offered as a 2-night add-on to a couple tour packages. Is that how you "have the opportunity"?

I have stayed there a long time ago. It is an ok place. I think the big draw is that they are familiar with dealing with foreign guests, but it is nevertheless a real Japanese Ryokan.

Dorish34:

How was your trip to China / Japan with Pacific Delight? My wife and I are planning an April trip and are deciding between Pacific Delight and General Tours...would appreciate your feedback, including the Yoshi-ima Inn. Thanks!

yes, the opportunity is through a tour package. this is why we are nervous about it - we want something more authentic, not designed for tour packages.
