Japanese Restaurant Recommendations - Bangkok
After travelling in Laos for a couple of weeks in March we are planning to celebrate our wedding anniversary in Bangkok. I am looking for a good Japanese restaurant for an anniversary dinner. Any recommendations? We are stying at the Conrad and I appreciate that their Japanese restaurant is v. good, but would like something outside of the hotel. any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

There are a couple of places that I like and they are quite close to the Conrad.
1/. Kan Restaurant accross the road from Central Chidlom department store. Order the "Chef Special" and leave the menu to the chef - you can always tell them before hand what you like and don't like.

2/. Sui King - same owner as Kan but in a hard to find location. Try calling them and ask for directions. The chef here specialize in "healthy" Japanese food. Tel_ 022522002

Hiya
my personal Japanese restaurant favourite is Uomasa in Japantown, Thonglor Soi 13. I think this review is pretty fair:

however, it's not particularly romantic for a wedding anniversary!

Thanks to everyone for the input and for the links to the review sites which are really helpful. I like Hanuman's suggestion of leaving the menu to the chef as I am always at a loss as to what to order in a Japanese restaurant.
