EMD I loved your report and am very impressed with it. How detailed it was is amazing. I only got as far as getting a website with all my pictures and a little detail on my travels in Europe.
I do have a few questions for you so hope you are reading this still.
1. You mentioned your melatonin regime and was wondering what exactly you do.
2. Do you know the cost of the daily bus and subway tickets in Kyoto - I am getting mixed figures on this board and on Lonely Planet?
Thank you again for your wonderful report.

I don't really remember because there were combinations of choices. Perhaps that's what makes it so confusing.

There was a pass that you could use for more than one day. We bought 3 of those on our second day and passed them around between 4 people. I'm pretty sure that one was good for bus and subway.

None of it is that expensive, so I didn't really worry about it.

Also, remember emd's advice - taxi's in Kyoto are not that expensive. We took them several times when we were really tired, or when it was raining. And it's not like New York - the taxis do not disappear when it rains.

I am always amazed how wonderful the people are on this board. It is a treasure! It makes my day to see how caring you all are.
