Japan Tour
Train guidance required from Kansai Intl airport;Osaka to kyoto.. then from kyoto to mount fuji(nearest)..then from mount fuji (nearest)to tokyo. Will JR pass be of great help or should we buy a ticket everytime at the station. which is reasonable?
|
KIX to Kyoto = ¥3,000
Kyoto to Odawara(Hakone) = ¥11,750 Odawara to Tokyo = ¥3,640(via shinkansen cheaper if not) Total train ticket expense = ¥18,240 Regular 7-day JR Pass = ¥28,300 You save about ¥10,000 not getting the pass. Aloha! |
And you won't limit yourself to JR. KIX to Kyoto you may take the bus. Hakone to Tokyo (Shinjuku) you may take the Odakyu.

Thank you hawaiiantraveler and rkkwan . confused if we have to stay at osaka or kyoto.Osaka has many attractions than kyoto but the hotel rates are really high at osaka. how long does it take to travel from kyoto to osaka by bus.
Any suggestions on reasonable hotels/holiday home at Osaka.I have a 3yr child with me for the tour. would prefer atleast a microwave in the room. |
also..what is the average cost of per meal per day. and the average cost of entrance tickets for the atractions(monuments, museum, parks, disney land etc). how much japenese yen is one expected to carry for 8 days tour.

You'll find a lot of useful info at japan-guide.com
And I would strongly encourage you to get at least one or two good guidebooks - you'll learn all sorts of things you didn't even know to ask! |
There really is no average for anything...cost of meals depends entirely on your choice. ¥100 onigiri or ¥50,000 kaiseki. Entrance fees vary place to place so you can check by google each place. How much money you need depends on your travel style and what you've prepaid.
You might look at places like Citadines apartments if a microwave is important to you. Hotels don't usually have a microwave in the room. You could also stay in a machiya and enjoy extra space. Travel between Osaka and Kyoto is most efficient by train. You can use www.hyperdia.com to check. Especially with a 3 year old, I'd recommend staying where you want to be rather than commuting. |
Schedule for the KIX-Kyoto bus is here:
http://www.kate.co.jp/pc/e_time_table/e_kyoto.html Takes about the same time as the Haruka "Express" train. That train is very slow until it gets to Shin-Osaka. But between the two city centers, then just take a train - JR or Hankyu - depending on where you're going to and from. |
