Japan or Luang Prabang for 4-5 days after Thailand?
I’ll travel to Thailand in July or August. Is it possible to do - Tokyo and Takayama OR - Kyoto and Takayama in just four days? If not, I should go to Luang Prabang instead, right? Please advise. Thank y’all. |
LP or siem reap (angkor wat) or yangon, myanmar or hanoi or K/L or singapore
myself i would go to SR as a unique experience for which 4 days is perfect...one hour flight from bkk |
Answers to your two questions: 1) not really and 2) not necessarily. Four days would make for a good stopover in Kyoto or in Tokyo. |
Luang Prabang would be a great stop in 4-5 days, as would Siem Reap (Angkor). I think it makes more sense to stay in SE Asia for the 4-5 days rather than going for a quick stop in Japan. Save that for the next trip when you can spend more time.

I agree with the others. Leave Japan out of this trip and plan another trip to only Japan. Japan is just under 7 hours by plane from Bangkok...that's a lot of travel time for 4 days. Of course, you might be connecting through Tokyo from Bangkok, in which case the time factor is moot.
I'd also consider the weather in Japan during summer...we went to Bangkok from Japan in August and found relief from the heat and humidity of the Japanese summer. Japan is best visited outside of the summer months in my opinion...after living in Japan for 10 years, summer is my least favorite season. I think you'll find Siem Riep/Angkor Wat or Luang Prabang very interesting. You don't say how long your stay in Thailand is...there is tons to see and do there. |
KimJapan is right. Summer in Japan is miserable.

Thanks all for your helpful suggestions. I'll head Luang Prabang then and save Japan for a much longer holiday. Many posts here recommend Sala Prabang. So i'm going to have a good look at its website. |
