Japan Narita Airport

Hi , My family of 5 will be flying to San Fransisco from Kuala Lumpur with a 19 hour transit at Narita Airport. As Malaysians we need a visa if we want to go out of Narita airport and its a hassle getting it in Malaysia. Is there an airport hotel that we can use without going out of the airport? There is bed and shower but they are open for limited time only and they charge by the hour. I don't intend to venture into Tokyo as we have all been there. Thanks.

There IS no transit hotel at NRT. All hotels in the area require you to enter Japan. There are day rooms that rent by the hour, but expensive and closes around 930p.

You should get visas or change your flights.

Ok , Thanks for your advise. We will get a visa as soon as possible. Our flight actually reaches Narita at 6.50 am and our flight out is at midnight. Is it possible to go into Tokyo for the day and return 3 hours before our flight? What can we do in such limited time? Thanks again. (Will inform the admin about the other thread as well)

Yes, you can get into Tokyo in an hour on the Narita Express and leave from Tokyo station to arrive back at the airport in plenty of time.

You have plenty of time to visit Tokyo. Besides the Narita Express that takes about an hour to get to Tokyo Station, there is also the Keisei Skyliner/Sky Access that gets to Ueno in just over 40 minutes. From there, you can connect on the subway to other parts of Tokyo.

Instead of wasting time going into Tokyo, given that you've been before, you could spend the time in Narita itself. Although it's an airport time, I was reading about it when planning my trip, and it does have some sights to visit, plus you could get a hotel there if you wish to relax.

Thank you for your replies. We have actually had to change our flight. We reach Narita from Kuala lumpur at 0640 and our flight out to San Fransisco is at 12 midnight fro Haneda airport. We have almost 17 hours . Since Im travelling with my family with 3 kids Im not being ambitious and just need a place to rest before we go to haneda at 9.00 pm. Most of the hotels the check in time is 2.00 pm. A little bit lost on what to do.

There is a newly-opened transit-type hotel at Haneda that offers both capsules and (very small) rooms for day use: http://first-cabin.jp/en/

For a family, though, you would likely be better off if one of the Prince Shinagawa hotels offered a day room. Shinagawa is very easy to reach from both Narita and Haneda (1:10 by Narita Express from Narita, 20 mins or so by direct train from Haneda), and it's also a place from which you could make a quick trip to various sites in Tokyo.
