The hotel is adjacent to the train station, but on the wrong side of the tracks from everything else: trams (best way to get around the city), buses, and the whole downtown area. To get from the hotel to the other side of the station, you have to walk through an unwelcoming tunnel, or else walk 6 or 8 blocks out of your way.

<b>But</b>, if you have a JR pass, you can just cut through the station. Walk ito the station, follow the signs to the tracks, showing your pass at the entry gate, then show your pass again when you reach the exit on the other side.
