Japan in mid-end august or Jan/Feb?
 

Want to go to Japan in mid-end august but scared about the possibility of typhoons and the high temperatures with humidity. I am from New York City, is it much worse than that?I am most scared of the risk of typhoons. I would be in Tokyo.

Tokyo tends to be hotter and much more humid than New York in August. There have also been some heat waves to 40 in the summer recently. New York has also had its heat waves but I don't think they are as bad. A typhoon actually cools things down and the weather right after a typhoon passes tends to be rather nice with clear air so you can even see Mt Fuji in the distance from Tokyo. You will however lose a day or two of your vacation sitting in your hotel if a typhoon hits. This all of course depends on how close the typhoon is to you and the category of typhoon.
