Japan - immunizations

We have received the Hep. B shots and typhoid immunization for our upcoming trip. My research didn't find anything else recommended...has anyone had their physician suggest anything else?

Read the recommendations at www.cdc.gov/travel

For Japan, you should have the same immunizations you should have if you were staying home - boosters as needed for diptheria/tetanus, Hep A, and any others you may need boosters for. Typhoid is generally a good idea for travelers.

As Kathie mentioned, there is absolutely no need for any special immunizations for Japan. It is a fully developed country, probably cleaner than the U.S. in many respects, and it's one of the few places abroad where you can drink the water without fear! Having spent a significant amount of time there, I assure you that the typhoid immunization is no more necessary for Japan than it would be for England, France, or Canada. That said, it might come in handy in your future travels, and Hep B is a must for everyone, so no big loss. I do think Hep A is a good idea for people who like to travel, but there is no particular risk for it in Japan. Relax, and have a great trip!
