Japan Cherry Blossoms Update?

We are heading to Kyoto and then Tokyo next week. Can anyone give me an update on the Cherry Blossoms? Thanks. JWH.

Mara: Cherry blossom forcasting is a precarious thing. I know that site too, but it hasn't been updated since last week. I left on Sat. and I can't imagine that the cherry blossoms will be out on March 31 in the areas predicted there, unless it has really warmed up since last week of colder weather. The buds that I saw late last Friday afternoon in Kyoto were still looking premature and tightly closed.
It is already March 28. Perhaps Alan64 or someone else who is currently over there will give us a forsthand report.

Hi! I've just came back from Kyoto and Tokyo a few days ago. There are some cherry blossoms at Nijo-jo and around Kyoto but it's definitely not in full bloom. Ueno Park in Tokyo is bare...temperature in both Tokyo and Kyoto is freezing cold...around 7-9 degrees.

Perhaps in another week or two.

In Tokyo day time temp is averaging around 15 degrees in the day. Forecast is for end of March/beginning of April.
