Japan
We are looking for a guided tour of Japan 11-12 nites - next June or July, which would include Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima, with 1 or 2 day trips. We have checked various Tour companies such as Smart Tours and Globus but are not satisfied with them; Tauck is too expensive. We are looking for a group of no more than 15 people. We are in our late sixties and in good health.

Why not travel independently? Japan is easy travel. It will be less expensive and you will get to go exactly the places you want to go. If you can travel Europe independently, you can travel in Japan independently.

Have you looked at OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel)? They're well-known, and people who prefer group travel usually speak highly of their tours:

Besides OAT, you may also take a look at "Insider's Japan" from Odysseys Unlimited.

Both tours have a free day in Kyoto. You may use that day to train to Hiroshima on your own if you want to fit Hiroshima into your 11-12 nites trip.

Even as illiterate barbarians (can't read Japanese, not Japanese), you can navigate the country with ease. This is especially true considering that you're going to three of the most tourist-prone areas. Considering your health is good, you should be able to handle this. Do 3-4 nights Tokyo, the rest in Kyoto and take day trips. No tour will give you enough time in any one city - you'll be bopping about all over the place.
