JAKARTA - TAMAN SAFARI DAYTRIP
Have a few day in Jakarta later this month and am thinking of taking a day trip to Bogor/Puncak Pass/ Taman Safari.
I see Gray Line advertise a tour for US100 so it would be USD200 for a couple, 8 hours including guide, fees, lunch and driver.
Or would I be better of booking thru a reputable taxi driver/tour company once I arrive.
Appreciate any help
Thanks Matt

Having lived in Jakarta for many years, I know how difficult it is to get away for a day. I haven't been to Taman Safari, but everyone seems to enjoy it. Once they get there, that is. The traffic, especially on weekends, can be horrendous.
My understanding is that if you get to Taman Safari by taxi or hired car you can walk from attraction to attraction and take the park bus through the open animal area.
I have been caught in enough Puncak Pass traffic jams to say "never again." I like the Bogor Botanical Gardens but again, avoid weekends.
With Air Asia fares so low, I'd suggest you try to work out an overnight to Yogyakarta or even Bali. Another nice trip is Bandung by train.
Ujung Kulon and Krakatoa tours, if you're adventuresome.
