Jaipur hotel room emergency - any suggestions?
I am in a situation I hate, I wonder if anyone has tactical advice for improving it.
Never mind how -- but not my idea -- I got involved for part of my trip planning with a travel agency which after endless delays has booked us into a hotel I expect to hate in Jaipur. I wanted a heritage hotel, and we are booked into something called Casa Bella, which has an okay location and is probably clean, but that's it.
I haven't paid for it so I'm not totally stuck with it. I plan to call my first choices - Alsisar Haveli is one of them - daily to see if they have a cancellation. Any other ideas? Does anyone know an agent likely to have access to anything?
Advice - do not let travelling companions interfere with your own intuition or wishes.

You could try this agent: www.rajasthantravelservice.com/ - they are based in Jaipur. I used them for car and driver and mid-range hotels, and they looked after me very well.

we stayed at Jai Mahal and really enjoyed it. It's very well maintained, new/renovated and immaculate service. It's won by Taj, so does have a little more of corporate feel to it. but honestly, after staying in several "heritage" hotels in India, a little professionalism was nice to have. anyway, you can at least check availability through their website. you may be able to get a better rate through an agent though.
