Itinerary to Hokkaido
Hello Everyone!!
So, My friend and I are heading to Japan next week for a few days and I'd like a couple of suggestions about our trip.. A few facts: * We have purchased a 7 day JR Pass * We're 2 guys who love Japanese girls and Party.. * Our dates are November 23rd to December 01st So, we arrive on the 23rd to Narita, take the train to shibuya where our hotel is.. We'll spend the 23rd and 24th in Tokyo. 25th: Take the train to Kyoto 26th: Kyoto 27th: Kyoto 28th: This is where it gets tricky... Our ticket back to the US leaves from Sapporo, so we have to make our way from Kyoto to Sapporo in 3 days.. This is where we need your help, what highlights would you think are the best to visit in our way to Sapporo? Should we cut to 2 nights only in Kyoto and enjoy the trip north better? or what else would you suggest? Thanks a lot!!! |
Also, if you have a recommendation for a good but not so expensive ryokan in Kyoto we would really appreciate it :)
Thanks!! |
Anyone?? :(

Hi, mikejpn -
> Should we cut to 2 nights only in Kyoto There is SO much in Kyoto that in general, I'd say no - but it depends on what you want to see and experience. For your other questions, you might consult: http://www.japan-guide.com/ Good luck! |
If you are flying home on Japan Airlines then just get one of their fares for visitors to go from Osaka to Sapporo. It will be about 10,000 yen. Buy a regular shinkansen ticket from Tokyo to Kyoto. You'd also have to buy transport from Kyoto to the airport. This will pretty much come close to breaking even vs the JR Pass. Might cost a bit more but will save a lot of time.
You could also get a Japan visitor fare from Tokyo to Osaka and from Osaka to Sapporo. That would be 20,000 to 25,000 yen. If you have FF miles you can fly Tokyo-Osaka-Sapporo for not many miles. |
First of all thank you for your response..
Part of the reason why we got the JR pass is so we could do that leg of the trip (kyoto to sapporo) I have heard great things about the scenery and towns along the way and I've never been before.. we both have been in Kyoto and Tokyo before but IMHO you can't miss visiting those cities while in Japan..even if its just for a day or two |
