Itinerary help for 2A and 2teens
OK bought tickets yeah. Will be in Thailand for 21 nights with husband and 2 teenage girls 12 and 16. Oldest will be working in an orphanage project for 7 days. This is what it looks like so far:
7/22 arrive BKK 7/23 -7/30 Bangkok 7/31 meet daughters group at BKK and she flies with them to Chiang Mai and the rest of us fly to CM 7/31-8/6 CM we will pick oldest up at base camp night of 8/6 8/7 fly to Koh Samui for 5 nights 8/12 fly KS to BKK 8/13 fly home I know this is probably too may nights in Bangkok. Other problem is I know our oldest will want to see Elephant conservation center and can't quite figure out how to do that without running in to too may nights in CM. Thanks in advance |
Your trip sounds good to me. I can never have enough time in Bangkok. I'm here right now, on a 19-day trip, and will stay in the city for all but about 5 days on Samui. And there is the slight possibility of a day trip to Chiang Mai, but that is yet to be determined.
Your girls will LOVE all the shopping in Bangkok. It's fabulous! From very upscale (Louis Vuitton, Shanghai Tang, Cartier, Gucci, D & G, etc) to the very cheap street markets where haggling is expected. Also, consider going to one of the gold class movie theaters to check out them out. The movie doesn't even have to be any good... the theaters are the destination!! I think we may try to do a movie at the new theaters at Siam Paragon Mall sometime in the next week. Carol PS... I'm currently doing a thread titled Carol is back in Bangkok, if you want to keep up with my day to day activities here. |
take a day off of samui....there are some elephants on samui too...but not nearly as good as CM...
way too many days in CM, imo, but i see why....maybe the 3 of you should go north for a couple of days...anantara at chiang saen....elephants there too... is samui weather ok in august?? otherwise you may want to go to phuket side....not sure... |
I've never had too much time in Bangkok! There is so much to see and do in Bangkok.
Like Bob, I think you may have too much time in Chiang Mai. If you could take a few days and go to the Golden Triangle area, that would be nice. The Anantara at the Golden Triangle has a small branch of the Elephant Conservations Center on the grounds. I highly recommend the Anantara. If you want a beach location, Koh Samui has good weather at that time of the year. |
Thanks to all- rethinking this as follows
arrive BKK 7/23 and go straight to Koh Samai 7/23-7/26 4 nights 7/27 fly to Chaing Rai and pick up car and drive to Anantara where we stay 3 nights 7/30 drive to Chiang Mai ( 4 hours?)and stay the night and daughter to meet group in afternoon of 7/31 and we spend another 7 nights in Chiang Mai 8/7 fly to BKK where we will meet daughter flying there with her group ( we get penalized $100 each way for not having her fly with group)and spend next 5 nights in BKK where we leave from midnight 8/12 What do you think??? |
perfect except way too long, imo, in CM...otherwise fine...
