Itinerary for Vietnam

I am looking at two different tours of Vietnam. One of them is 11 nights and the other is 8 nights. Obviously, the longer one is usually better, but I thought I would ask those of you who have been to comment why 8 nights would be too short or 11 nights would be too long:

8 nights: Hanoi 3 night
Halong Bay 1 night
Hue 1 night
Hoi An 1 night
Saigon 2 nights

11 nights: Saigon 3 nights
Hoi An 2 nights
Hue 2 nights
Hanoi 3 nights
Halong Bay 1 night

Thanks for all your input!!

You need the 11 days with 2 nights in both Hoi An and Hue. Remember that it takes time to get to each location so you will not have full days in those cities. I would only stay 2 nights in Saigon and add one to Hanoi.

I’m also voted for 11days, as its will enough to see most main sites for Hue & Hoi An. Saigon should afford for 3nits if you to do Mekong delta & cu chi tunnels.

Happy holiday

Even 11 days is rushed. Don't consider the 8 day trip.

I'd actually nix Saigon altogether and add in Sapa instead, although I guess it would depend on what time of year you are there. While we found Saigon and the Mekong to be interesting, we liked the other areas far better. Given your limited time, I'd rather add Sapa. You may want to do Saigon & the Delta on another trip combined with Cambodia.
