Itinerary & suggestions (Fann Mountains & Pamir Highway)
 

Hi travelers!
We are heading to Tajikistan in late June and I'd like some tips from those of you who have already been there. This is our draft itinerary:

Day 1: Early morning arrival in Samarkand (by plane). Full day in Samarkand
Day 2: Full day in Samarkand
Day 3: Samarkand / transfer to Panjakent (Tajikistan). Overnight in Panjakent (Do you know any shop/hostel/guesthouse where we could buy a camping gas cartridge?)
Day 4: Hiking in the Fan mountains (wild camping). 7lakes hike?
Day 5: Hiking in the Fan mountains (wild camping)
Day 6: Hiking in the Fan mountains (wild camping)
Day 7: Hiking in the Fan mountains (overnight in Panjakent)
Day 8: Transfer from Panjakent to Dushanbe
Day 9: Relax & sightseeing in Dushanbe
Day 10: Pamir Highway
Day 11: Pamir Highway
Day 12: Pamir Highway
Day 13: Pamir Highway
Day 14: Pamir Highway
Day 15: Pamir Highway
Day 16: Pamir Highway
Day 17: Pamir Highway
Day 18: extra day (Osh)
Day 19: early morning flight back home (from Osh)

Is this itinerary feasible? Is it easy to catch a shared taxi/minibus from Panjakent to Dushanbe?
For the first part of our trip, we will be using only public transportation.
For the Pamir Highway we will probably rent a jeep+driver (maybe already in Dushanbe, in order to save some time between Dushanbe-Khorog). Is it a good idea?
Is there anything that we should NOT miss along the Pamir Highway? With the amount of days we have , do you think we will still be able to enjoy the nature (do some hikes, side trips) or will we be spending the majority of the time in the car?
For those who have hired a driver for the Pamir highway, what s the best thing to do? Should I try to arrange one ahead of time through internet? We don't speak Russian, I guess we will opt for an English speaking driver, so that we can have at a least some chatting during that week together :)
