Peter, Linda, Ken, Jackie, Kathie, Cheryl & Carol--

That was a fun half-evening at Himalayan Kitchen! It's always great to see your smiling faces year after year. I'm glad K, C & C had a fun time in Hawaii.

Thank you to all who paid for my dinner !!! which I hope you didn't notice I scarfed in a matter of minutes, I was starving after witnessing the Salute to Balut contest in Kalihi.

Carol, your gift bag was amazing and filled with beautiful things. I immediately put a business card holder to use and gave a silken toothpick holder to my sister visiting from Calif.

Peter, gorgeous photos as always. Makes me more natsukashii for Japan, tho not right at this very moment with the exchange rates. And thanks for organizing another fab GTG again.

Ken and Jackie, happy travels! I know you'll be eating at Penang Delight in Singapore. In my heart I'll be eating char kway teow with you!

Carol: No, I haven't been to the Big Island. I wonder if there's a non-stop flight there from L.A.? Anyhow, as for next year, I'll just have to wait and see. Things are just not as predictable as they once were. But, I'll cross my fingers, eyes, and toes for next year. LOL! Happy Travels!

What would be a good month or dates for those interested in a Big Island Hawaiian GTG 2011?

Aloha!

I'm afraid it's too early for me to know about my schedule for next year. If you set a date, I can try to work around it.

They have events for a month long on the Big Island. Their Hoolaulea is held in Waimea this year. Yahoo, Paniolo country! This would be a treat.

Ken, we will absolutely wait for you! Looks like sometime after 9/20. The weekend of the 23-25 is open on my calendar as of right now. Can I pencil it in? It is not urgent that I know now, but I see Bob and Karen might consider it if they know when it will be held.

And yes, guenmai, there are non-stop flights to/from LAX to the big island. I almost booked one... leaving from HNL, to KOA (or it might have been Hilo), and on to LAX, and then to ORD... yaddah yaddah yaddah... anyway, it's do-able! Would love to have you join us once again (same with B & K).

I've downloaded my pics. HI is sooooo beautiful. It just doesn't get much prettier!

Ken, you and Jackie have a great time!

Carol

Waimea is a fantastic town. I was there a couple of times in my 2 1/2 day trip. I'll bet a paniolo hoolaulea would be totally awesome. Looks like (from the link) some of the festivities are in Waikoloa... another place I fell in love with.
