Is it safe to travel in Bangkok, Thailand?

We are traveling to Asia and ending with 4 days in Bangkok at the end of March. I have seen articles about unrest in Bangkok, but don't know how this affects the city - whole city, only parts, just one location easily avoided. Any input from other travelers?

So far it seems that you will be fine if you avoid the protest sites. You should follow this twitter feed: https://twitter.com/RichardBarrow

generally it is easy to avoid the protests as they announce them all in advance.

Since a couple of the major protest sites occupy "Downtown Shopping Central", it's actually difficult for most tourists to completely avoid the protests.

However, any violence has been in areas not typically frequented by tourists.

This has got to come to a head, sometime, somewhere. Hopefully, some resolution will be achieved by the end of March. Keep up on the events and don't spend much time "hanging out" at the sites, themselves, if they continue during your visit.

We stayed on the river and spent six days in BKK in late January. We got caught in a massive traffic jam going to dinner one evening, but other than that, felt no effects of the shutdown. We return to BKK end of this month and I anticipate the same.

As suggested followed Twitter with Barrow. Also you can set a google alert and it will sent you daily news articles on the topic.
