Is it easy to get to Ankor Wat from Thailand?
Hi
My wife and I have started thinking about next years vacation and we are thinking about going to Thailand with some friends. I guess it will be Bangkok and an island in the south. But it would also be great to visit Ankor Wat in Cambodia. Has anybody here been to Ankor Wat? Is it quite a mission to reach it? As you can see from my posting my knowledge when it comes to Ankor Wat and its location is very limited at the moment so I hope that someone can enlighten me Big Grin Regards Gard gardkarlsen.com - trip reports and pictures |
Bangkok Airways operate multiple flights from BKK - Siem Reap(Angkor Wat) everyday.

Yes it is easy to get to Angkor Wat from Thailand. Bangkok Air has several flights per day from BKK to Siem Riep. If you're going to a beach, check out the Discovery Pass on Bangkok Air. It will save you a few dollars/Baht/kroner. You must purchase the pass out of Thailand.

It's as easy as getting on a bus. The road from the border to Siem Reap is pretty rough though. Fly if you prefer comfort.

I recommend flying, and Bangkok Air is the only airline with non-stops between Bangkok and Siem Reap. They are a very nice airline.
If you want to go overland, do read www.talesofasia.com for all the info on how to do and and how to avoid the scams. |
Another plus is that the flight from BKK to SR is only 50 minutes!

Angkor is very easy to visit-the town is a tourist hub with lots of hotels. Hiring a guide and driver, only about $50 a day, enriches the experience. To get there you should check out the Bangkok Airways Discovery Pass. If you fly BKK to Siem Reap, Siem Reap to Phuket (for your beach)and Phuket back to Bkk you have your 3 segments. The big saving is Siem Reap to Phuket. Of course, if you're going somewhere besides Phuket the savings won't be as great or you might not be able to get the segments. You should also check the regular fares on each of the airlines to find out if there is a savings doing it that way, as there are often specials.
