Is Cathay Pacific good for a long flight -Economy Class

We're flying NY -Hong Kong and then to bangkok on Cathay Pacific on a stretch 777. any reviews? Gotta go Economy and hoping it'll be tolerable.

Tolerable? If your basic standard is universally dreadful North American airlines you are about to discover what they should be doing, and how, despite the limitations of economy class, flying can actually be reasonably pleasant.

Have flown London to Hong Kong with Cathay in economy and they were very good. I would say that they were second only to Singapore which, IMHO sets the standard for long haul economy.

It highly depends on whether your body agrees with CX's economy seats on their 777-300ER, which is unlike economy seats on any other airline. They have a hard shell, so the seat in front won't recline onto you. The seat back kind of slides down and forward a little, instead of reclining. Reviews are mixed. Some like it (which I assume are those who don't recline their seats anyways), while some find them very uncomfortable for longhaul.

One of the few times I completely agree with PeterN_H. Compared to domestic US carriers, Cathay pacific is a dream. We've taken them JFK-BKK and were pleased.

so glad to hear this, nearly 2 years after the posting. We are gearing up to go and are so excited. Though, we don't have a lot of dough b/c it was lotsa dough for just the ticket. In economy.

I'm one who didn't like the hardshell on Cathay Pacific economy and I'm not a big person. There seems to be a lot less room for maneuverng around. Apparently I'm not the only one as Cathay Pacific is using those hardshells on short hauls only.

Otherwise, the "normal" seats in CP are quite comfortable.

Let's hope we are comfortable!!!
