Intra-Asia Airlines: Singapore-Cambodia
I need a round trip flight from SIN to Siem Reap, then Phnom Penh back to SIN for early April. The only airline I've found that does this routing so far is Silk Air... I'm fairly clueless about intra-Asia carriers... are there others I should look at? Or an Asian version of Orbitz/Kayak? BTW, I've chcked Air Asia, Siem Reap Airways and Jet Star, and none fly this route.
Silk gives me a fare of about $550 US, which seems high to me. Am I looking too far in advance? I realize no one has a crystal ball, especially given the fuel price situation, but sometimes fares go down closer to departure. What's a reasonable fare for this routing? |
The only non-stop from Singapore to Siem Reap is on Silk Air. It is expensive. I would not expect that fare to change (other than to get higher). You can fly to KL, then onward to Siem Reap on Air Asia. As Air Asia is a budget carrier, they do not transfer luggage, so you would have to pick up your luggage in KL and re-check iot onward to Siem Reap.

ok, good to know. I checked Air Asia, and I can't do it without losing a night in Siem Reap, which I don't want to do. It's a significant savings though, to say the least!! Wow.

Well, thought maybe I could at least get mileage credit on UAL flying Silk, as they're a Singapore Air codeshare, but no. Crap.

Jet Star Asia flies SIN - REP, but only 2 or 3 days a week. We used them last summer.

It is likely too early to book Jet Star for next April.

Jet Star also flies out of PP, sometimes. But the previous poster is correct, it's too early to book them.
