info on sri lanka - entrance fees

hi
thank you for everyones very interesting posts and sorry if you have written this somewhere but just wondering if many people paid for their enterance fees within their tour fees or paid on entry?

Also we have 3 nights on a a beach Unawatuna, Galle or Bentota. which one would people recommend as they are all recommended highly in the guide books

Thanks!

Are you going as part of a group tour or is an agent booking an itinerary for you?

On a group tour, the entrance fees might be included, but look at the documentation for your tour to be sure. If you simply have an agent booking the trip for you, providing a car and driver, etc, you will be expected to pay your own entrance fees.

And when comparing prices, be aware that entrance fees in Sri Lanka are startling high. $10 US is routine for quite ordinary places, and the multi-site Cultural Triangle ticket is $50 US. (Kathie - I think reddottours included some entrance fees in their quote.)

Galle isn't a beach destination. You can stay at Unawatuna and day trip to Galle. Unawatuna is very touristy, but so is Galle. If I had to do it over, and I really wanted a beach, I'd go for one further east.

Thursdays, interesting that reddot included some entrance fees in your quote... they didn't in mine. So the answer is to read your documentation and ask if it isn't clear.

Just looked at my invoice from RedDot and they have included entrance fees the invoice shows total costs and split between transport, hotels and entrance fees. However I did make a specific request for certain excursions to be included.
