Indonesian visa update
We received our passports with visas attached back from the NY Indonesian Consulate this AM.
For those of you who followed the now closed thread, this ends the saga. The info I supplied was: our passports 1 copy of the carefully completed NY application, with the sponsorship section left blank $50. each for the processing fee in the form of 1 bank check 1 passport picture each a copy of our plane ticket both in and out of Indonesia I DID NOT supply any financial information I found the NY consulate exceptionally responsive, even going as far as telephoning me twice and holding my application for a few days while I sent them more money and the plane tickets. It seems each Indonesian office may operate under differing rules. One fodorite sent his info to DC only to have the whole thing returned to him because something was missing. Like many countries, Indonesia has split the USA into sections and you are required to use the office your home state is assigned to for visa processing. For MA, the NYC office is our assigned office. ON TO BALI IN SEPTEMBER!!!! |
PLEASE NO OFF TOPIC RAMBLINGS by "thai experts"...
|
Have a nice time.
Save me some Bintang please! |
Thanks for the update, Bob. I'm glad it went smoothly.
|
Kathie---your financial info s/b enough to cover us all..
|
what is a bintang?
;) |
HT - an Indonesian brew...
I'm the guilty party that sent the application to the wrong place. Have resent to NYC sans financials - fingers crossed... |
Bob,
Putu is forwarding you my email address. |
I think you are wise to organise the visas in advance. We arrived at 9.30 pm in May, and waited in long lines for close to two hours.
Have a great time in beautiful Bali. |
We arrive at 9:45 pm from Sydney - I am now firmly convinced the extra expense and the double postage (DC and NYC) will be worth it as I am not interested in a 2 hour wait...
|
The more people that get their visa in advance is great as it = a shorter queue for VOA!
|
2 hours, omg!!!! I just don't have time to send my passport off to London before I go... Sigh I'll just have to just wing it....
|
nicky---our processing took less than a week
|
Can't do it Bob, I need to get my Russia visa ( assuming they are still issuing them!) we are cutting it fine with that....and anyway K will probably have to get hers VOA, so I may aswell wait with her.

If you Google 'Bali Airport, fast-track', you might find something of interest.

For what they're worth, here's the latest reviews of the airport...

As reported above, I resent my visa application to the New York consulate 13 days ago. Yesterday, having heard nothing, I called. The person that answered the phone took my info and called me back about 2 hours later. He said my visas we ready to go but they needed me to complete the "New York" application (which is very slightly different from the one you can download from the DC Embassy website). They e-mailed the NY application to me. They told me I could fill it out, scan it and e-mail it back to them and I did that late yesterday afternoon. The visas arrived today :-).
|
Glad you got your visas, Craig.
|
Wow great service Craig, thanks for sharing! ... On another note I just completed my Russian visa ( I know another forum) omg, talk about needing loads of info!
|
The more folk that get their visa in advance, the shorter the queues for VOA.
I'm not expecting a long queue at the end of September. And in any case I'll post on here as I found it. |
