Indonesia Honeymoon rainy season

Hi Everyone!

My fiance and I really love the idea of going to Indonesia for our honeymoon. We are getting married in December but were thinking of putting the honeymoon off until January or February. Is this rainy season and will it be a bad time to go? We want to site see but also want to visit some beaches.

All of your advise is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

We were in Bali, Java, and Yogyakarta in the beginning of January of this year. I was prepared to get more rain than we had. Mostly it was hot, humid, partly cloudy - with the occasional tropical rainstorm. Your mileage may vary. I don't think it's a bad time to go!

I've been to Bali, Java and Lombok during Nov, Dec and into January, which is rainy season. Typically, we had a tropical thunderstorm almost daily, but it didn't rain all day. I was fine with the weather, but if you are someone who feels your vacation is ruined if it rains while you are at the beach, then don't go.

Thanks for the advise, that definitely helps.

I'm super pale, so I am in no way going to lay out on a beach all day for 2 weeks, so maybe it would still work for us!

Erica, the rain won't slow you down. Usually storms hang around for 2 or 3 days of overcast weather, followed by 2 or 3 days of brillant sunshine. It doesn't rain all day, though, just off and on, usually with sunshine in between.

I would be more concerned about trying to avoid high tourist season which now seems to last well into January. You'll get better rates in February after Lunar New Year.

I would suggest to go after January. Of course, the rain will not be a problem, but since this is your honeymoon, don't you want to be perfect? :-) Bali with sun and blue sky is an unique place. If you can go after January, I think it will be better. But, to be 100% sure about everything, I would suggest you to consult some agencies that have a "honeymoon packages" in Indonesia. For example type on Google.com "Honeymoon in Bali - 10 Days / 9 Nights" or how many days you want to stay there. And see what appears there.

Just a reminder, Indonesia is a HUGE country, so while it could be flooding in Jakarta, it might be dry and sunny in Sulawesi or Flores. In fact, here in Bali, it is often sunny and hot in one small village and a few meters away it is pouring rain. Then the clouds rush away and it is dry and everyone comes out to play badminton. Generally, I find that if the rain is heavy and pouring, it only lasts a few minutes, and usually after 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Or better yet, at night when you are snug in bed. If the rain is light and steady it will last longer. These are generalizations of course, no one can predict the weather or the future!

Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!

We were in Bali this past February. Yes, it did rain at times but it certainly wouldn't stop me from going back at that time of year. Sometimes, the cloud and rain is a relief from the hot sun. Go when you want and don't let it stop you from enjoying this beautiful place.

During this months rain should be less since summer is coming. So it will not be a bad time to go. You will experience dry and sunshine a lot.
