Hi, Austine, not Lyndie but still chipping in. Amrapali in Jaipur has amazing jewelry, silver and gold, antique and new. They also have an outlet in Bombay but I find their Jaipur one better.

Austine, there are plenty of reputable jewelry stores in Jaipur - Gem Palace, Amrapali, Bhandiri and others. I think you will find that $100-200 does not buy much though.

WE found some really unique jewelry in two of the shops at Santushti Market in Delhi. There were a lot of pieces in your price range. Sorry, I don't have my notes here, but there are only about 10 shops there and these were both across the sidewalk from Anokhi.

Before you buy any jewelry, please do your homework by looking at jewelry stores at home and on the internet. There are bargains to be had in India, but only if you know price and quality. Note that most gold jewelry is 18 or 24 carat, which Caucasians may find a bit too yellow for their skin tone. If you want 14 carat you may have to have a piece made, this may take a few days. You should know the price of gold by weight (i.e., ounce) as this is what you will be charged, plus something for workmanship.

This is the government-owned and run handicrafts store for Rajasthan. Prices are fixed, but are very good, as is quality generally. They have a smaller but very good jewelry selection, as well as fabrics and handicrafts. Rajasthali also has outlets at Jaleb Chowk and Amber Fort in Jaipur

This is a small an outdoor shopping "mall" owned and operated by wives of Navy officers. The shopping area is a series of small cottages surrounded by lawns. Extremely pleasant as it is enclosed and no beggars or hawkers are allowed. There are some good handicrafts shops and some great fabric stores. I have not shopped here for jewelry so don’t know the two shops mentioned above. Shops are a bit more expensive than other shopping areas. There is a very good restaurant here called Basil and Thyme which is a nice for lunch. I believe all shops are closed on Sundays, check with your hotel or call.
