India Trip Three - Am I crazy?

Planning my next India trip - Ellora/Ajanta, Meenakshi

What else?

JillianV Oct 16th, 2015 02:55 AM

Bombay?

Pawan1987 Oct 16th, 2015 05:01 AM

As you seems to be going to south, will suggest Hyderabad, Hampi, Mysore, Coorg, Waynad..there are many, depends on the number days you have

BigRuss Oct 16th, 2015 07:25 AM

Wondering why India trip #3 = crazy? Large country, many interesting areas, unlikely to be able to see all of it at once . . .

What am I missing?

dgunbug Oct 16th, 2015 02:04 PM

We are getting ready for 2nd trip south and I see we will run out of time and could use at least a third. not crazy at all. How long and when so you intend to go?

vaishalimishra Oct 16th, 2015 10:06 PM

wow #BigRuss your answer is really awesome. However if you are planning your trip for Ellora/Ajanta, Meenakshi then Hulimavu cave temple, grishneshwar jyotirling, Padmanabhaswamy Temple is also a good destination.

Nope, you are not crazy. Or maybe, with your love of India, you are (like me)....but in a good way!!!!
Can't recall--have you been to the area around Coonoor/Ooty?
If you go to Coorg area, you gotta splurge on the Taj Madikeri.

Traveling to India is not easy, but well worth the effort. Don't know if I have the stamina at age 73. Guess I'll have to keep working out at the gym.

Hampi looks appealing, but not easy to reach. Hotels don't look great either.

Not beach person . . .

Going to check travelaw's trip report. I trust her judgement.

indianapearl Oct 17th, 2015 11:36 AM

Thanks for all the suggestions! Checking them . . .

dgunbug Oct 17th, 2015 11:46 AM

India spears - when are you planning to go to India and how much time will you spend there?

dgunbug Oct 17th, 2015 11:47 AM

Sorry - autocorrect changed your name.

Thinking about Nov-Dec 2016. Depends on my travel companion(s) and their schedules.

ashwinprabhakaran Nov 28th, 2015 09:45 PM

Which other places have you visited so far? Visited North-East India? What about the islands Lakshadweep/ Andaman-Nicobar?

rhkkmk Nov 29th, 2015 05:18 AM

Go for it...I'd love. 3rd too, maybe south...

rhkkmk Nov 29th, 2015 05:19 AM

And the earliest we could do it would be 73-74... Yikes.

Don't remember where else you've been, so difficult to make suggestions. If you haven't been to Tamil Nadu the temples are definitely a draw. I also liked the Chettinad region.

Did you read my south Asia TR? Would recommend against Hampi, not worth the trek to get there.

Hi,

India keep attracting to do more for any visitor due to its diversity of culture, landscape and size. You are not crazy. India is incredible:)

Ajanta/ Ellora are really interesting and can be explores via Aurangabad city connected by trains and flight to Mumbai. During visit to Madurai, you can also add either Kerala or other towns of Tamilnadu.

Kerala- you can add Periyar NP, houseboat on Backwaters, Marari and Cochin.

Tamilnadu- You can add Tanjore, Kodaikanal, Trichy and Pondicherry along with Madurai.

Wish you a great time and experience!!

Br, Atul

Kerala is the most significant places that elevate the South India Holiday. Alappuzha, the place is synonymous to heaven.
