India Trip 2014 Booked!
 

We finalized our itinerary and gave our deposit for our India trip for February 2014. We arranged the trip with C and K, and it was a pleasure working with Arvind on our travel plans. We will be visiting Delhi, Varanasi, Agra, Jaipur, and Udaipur. Many thanks to all of you for your valuable advice and expertise during our planning process. We are of course very excited about our journey to India!

As far as tipping goes, how much do you recommend for the guide and for the driver per day? Thank you very much.

YEA!!!

for the driver it largely depends on how you like him... ask for Krishna...he is the best... I could not give him enough.. in addition to cash I bought his wife a sari and paid for his train trip home...

the guides make a very small amount like $15, so if you like them I might do $10??? also depends if you have them 1/2 or whole day..

hotels: in Jaipur try new Marriott or cheaper the Sheraton 4 star.. in Varanasi stay on the river---places are not nice but unique.. delhi---good luck---do you have any hotel pts you could use... ITC in agra is good (Sheraton)... we loved the Sheraton palace in Udaipur but might also consider one of the havelis on the main lake---se the places where we ate as they have rooms...

Bob, thanks so much. Yes, we've already requested Krishna, based on your recommendation! Our plans are now all set.

In July, we are off to France for our 1st riverboat cruise, with friends who sometimes travel with us, to celebrate our anniversaries.

Again, many thanks for all your advice. The planning was a large part of the fun for us.
