India, Second Time Around
Leave in two weeks for India and thought I'd post my itinerary and follow up later with a trip report...first trip was in 98 with stops in Delhi, Nagarhole NP in South India (good for elephant, dholes, leopard, gaur)and then Jaipur, the Amber Fort, Ranthambore NP (good for tigers), Fatipur Sihkra, the Taj Mahal and a side trip into Nepal (Royal Bardia NP)...
This trip starts in Assam State near the Burmese border in Kaziranga NP for Indian Rhino; then to te far west state of Gujarat to the Gir Forest to see Asiastic lions; then Bandhavgarh NP to see tigers; the temple complex at Khujaraho and the holy city of Haridwar on the Ganges River...
Details to follow when I get back....

Hi Gatorratlarge,
All the best for your 2nd trip to India.
Assam is an exciting and relatively un-explored place - you shall love it - still un-spoilt and prinstine.
Kazirange - try out the new Diphlu lodge - it is very nice. The earlier best place to stay was Wild Grass - which is till there - basic accommodation - though it does have a character of its own.
The western Range is better for Rhino sighting - whereas Eastern better for birds etc...
I wish you could try out the nice cruise on river Brahmaputra - operated by Assam Bengal Navigation company - it is deligthful and passes through remote - untouched areas of Assam - a unique way of seeing the rural countryside.
A short stretch of 3 nights can be done on the river .
Try staying at one of the great Tea Estate Bungalows - called Chang Bungalows - in and around Jorhat , Tejpur etc. Very nice experience.
Manas is a great park too but no decent place to stay there except for Bansabari Lodge and forest rest houses.
Let me know if you need any pointers on travellintg - and making a ciruit in Assam.
Bandavgarh is a great place to see Tigers - small area and a large concentration of Tigers. Hope you see a lot of them - including the boss - Called B2.
Where are you staying in Badavgarh ? CCS Africa has a wonderful lodge there which they operate with Taj Hotels.
All the best for your trip.Look forward to reading about it.
Cheers
