" We have a very well recommended driver lined up."

Does your recommended driver have thoughts on this itin? I'm assuming he has driven in Rajasthan before, and that is what the recommendations are based on?
If he has been there before, he should have some excellent insight into what you will see, what is worth seeing, and how long it will take to get there.

Cali, the driver actually wants to squeeze Jaipur into the itinerary. Of course he has driven in Rajasthan before. He has excellent recommendations of sights to see between our main overnight stops. Since we have not met, I can sense he wants us to see everything we can possibly see. the driver is Narender who has been recommended on this site.

The itinerary above is already a little hectic, but we cannot squeeze in another overnight stop. I hesitated to take an overnight train journey only because I cannot sleep on overnight planes, trains, etc. but I will get a stronger Ambien from my Dr. and go for it. I'm not worried about the actual experience of the Indian trains.

I am all in favor of taking input from my driver, some forums, and some good friends who have visited India. A friend said Jaipur was his least favorite stop and I had advice from another forum that Jaipur could be dropped, so that is why it is off the itinerary in favor of Ranthambore. Maybe I should drop Jodhpur and put in Jaipur--I'm not sure.

Since we are two women travelling together we are not looking for romantic experiences, but we want to keep things moving and see a lot. However, I scheduled the 3 night stop at Udaipur just so we can rest up a bit and maybe enjoy a spa. In Jodhpur the Ratan Vilas has cooking demos which interest me.

Thanks for taking an interest in our itinerary. I do really appreciate it.

LOl re the Ambien!!!Just do what you can to avoid during- the- night trips to the train bathroom (-: (One of my funniest/yuckiest India experiences was being stuck in one of those hole-in-the-floor toilets on a train on a crvy track, when the lights went out!!!)

Your river sounds excellent and enthusiastic!Just make sure you are not "steered" into particular shops, etc (which you have probably already heard /read about).

Based on feedback i have read and heard ( always enquiring!!) do NOT skip Jodhpur and go to Jaipur instead.

Everyone I've ever talked to about Rajasthan LOVES Jaiselmer!!!! So...great that you kept it in your itin. Oh, i am so envious!!!! Can';t wait to hear your feedback upon return!!

p.s. you are VERY smart to have one place (Udaipur) for three nights, ON both of the recent trips we took to India, we were very glad of time/places to break up the trips and "settle in" for more than one or two nights.
