India adaptors

Trying to figure out what adaptors to bring for our trip. What kind of outlets are in India? Will the three pin or two pin adaptors work? I am finding conflicting information and would like to know which ones I need to bring. Do they use both? We already have 1 set of all of the adaptors but we need to buy a few more for the iphone, camera charger and ipads etc...
Thanks

Most nicer places have at least one outlet that accepts all types of plugs. A lot of hotels also have adapters that you can borrow while there.

Rather than take adapters and chargers for all my electronics, I have charger with multiple USB ports. Plug everything into that and do it all at once.

I never knew about the adaptor with USB ports. I will look into those.

But what kind of adaptor do I need? 2 or 3 pins? Some of our hotels are not super nice so I want to be prepared.

You will find it all. Some of our hotels and guest houses had 2-pin outlets, others had 3 and some had both. One place even had a US style outlet in the bathroom. If you don't have the right one, the hotel will provide it. We did take a small power strip (which we attached to a grounded adaptor) so we could charge all of our devices at once.

Do keep in mind that electrical service in India can be iffy, to say the least. There have been threads here that discuss surge protectors, into which you can plug several devices. It might be a very good solution, if you have multiple devices to plug in, and also want to protect them.

Good point, Mme. The power strip is also a surge protector. Just make sure the adapter is grounded.
