India 2nd trip - Family holiday in December/January

Hi
We are travelling to India in December/January.
Our tickets in and out of Mumbai have been booked already. (18 days)
We have set our sights on the following :
Mumbai -
Jodhpur
Jaipur
Varanasi
Darjeeling
Kumarakom
Munnar
Varkala
I would welcome thoughts and ideas from forum members.

Pause and decide what is most important for you to do/see/experience. We may be able to help you sort out what to keep and what to cut.

Our India holiday (19 days) for 3 adults and child aged 8.
We are not keen on overnight stays in Mumbai.
We have eliminated Varanasi and Varkala from the list.
New listis
Mumbai - entry and exit
Jodhpur
Jaipur
Darjeeling
Kumarakom
Munnar
Would love to visit Ooty and Pondicherry but will reserve that for the next trip.
Please review - your advice is welcome.

Cut Darjeeling. It will take too long to get there and back. To get to Darjeeling, you fly to Bagdogra then it's a 4+ hour drive, same thing to leave Darjeeling. To be honest with you, we weren't impressed with Darjeeling.

How are you planning to get from place to place?

Amendments to the travel list now reads:
Mumbai,Darjeeling,Jodhpur,Jaisalmer,Ooty,Pondicher ry,Kumarakomand Munnar.

I read your trip report re. Darjeeling / I would prefer Sikkim and my 20 year old daughter is keen on Darjeeling though...

Our interim plan:
Day 01 – Mumbai-Jodhpur (if possible) otherwise overnight in Mumbai

Day 02 – (Mumbai-Jodhpur)

Day 03 – Jodhpur

Day 04 – Jodhpur to Jaisalmer by road in 5 hr

Day 05 – Jaisalmer

Day 06 – Jaisalmer to Delhi by train

Day 07 – Delhi to Chennai by flight. Chennai-Pondicherry by road (4hours)

Day 08 - Pondicherry

Day 09 – Pondicherry

Day 10 – Pondicherry - Ooty (Road/train?)

Day 11 – Ooty

Day 12 – Ooty- Munnar (Road/train?)

Day 13 – Munnar - day trips to Periyar and maybe Thekkady

Day 14 – Munnar to Kumarakom by road

Day 15 – Kumarakom

Day 16 – Kumarakom - to Cochin for a flight to Bagdogra - travel by road to Darjeeling
Day 17 – Darjeeling

Day 18 –Darjeeling

Day 19 – Fly from Bagdogra to Mumbai

Day 20 – Departure from Mumbai

Review and all input is appreciated.
