India

Hi,
Could you please recommend how to get from the international airport in Delhi to a hotel?

Thank you,

1. Taxi

2. Ask your hotel to arrange a transfer. This is often much more expensive than a taxi, but not always.

3. If you are using a local agency to book your trip, they can arrange a transfer for you.

I've always just used a taxi, very organized at the exit and inexpensive. The road "etiquette" will scare (or entertain) you no matter how much you decide to pay.

Although a driver provided by the hotel might be more expensive, you will be taken to the hotel you choose.

In all the time I've spent in India (5 or 6 months now) and all the taxis I've ridden in, I've always been taken where I wanted to go.

Use the *prepaid* taxi booth.

What I think Indianapearl is referring to is that, when you state your destination hotel, the driver will almost certainly say "I'm terribly sorry, sir, but there was a terrible fire last night and it burned down; however, I know a good hotel..." Tell him you prepaid and would like to see the ashes of your money.

I know what what the pearl was saying. I was saying, with possibly more experience than most, it's never happened to me. It's one of those things that we're all warned about and, I suspect, seldom actually happens.
