important help for Hotel in Bangkok

We are leaving to Thailand and we haven't book any Hotels for the first nights in Bangkok. I'm a little concerned about it.
Could you please suggest a nice Hotel in the central area of the city? (not too noisy if possible...)
Thanks!!!

Have a look at the listings at sawadee.com for an idea of what your options are.

If you are leaving immediately, do not worry. There is a tourist counter in the airport (or there was in the old one!) that will book you a hotel upon arrival. It is best to ask for one by name (I didn't get the one I wanted-instead one nearby) or by location. Just a side note - if you book only 1 or 2 nights and want to stay longer, they will raise the price! Of course, you can 'discuss' this.

We have a budget of 1500/2500 bath per night. We don't have ideas of the different areas of the city. We are not very interested in night life. We prefer a quite but central district.
Reading the guide books the city seems to be so BIG. We need help to "focus" the district where to stay.
Could you help?

I'm going back to the "Twin Towers" this time. It is walking distance to Hualamphong Station, and the Skytrain at National Stadium, as well as a big English supermarket whose name escapes me, MBK, Jim Thompson and Siam Square areas, though you may prefer a short taxi ride.
For about 1700 Baht double room including breakfast, it has a wonderful swimming pool, and good service. The clientel is mainly Asian and French, as it is not advertised in Australian tour books.
I think it is good value. See it on the hotelsguru site mentioned above by Tozzman.
