Imperial Boathouse

Hi, I'd like to hear from anyone who's stayed in one of the deluxe rooms at the imperial boathouse in the last few years. Is it a nice hotel?

We are booked to stay at the Imperial Boathouse in April so would also be interested in comments from past guests. We had thought of upgrading from a deluxe room to a boat suite but were deterred by the £300 surcharge. Is it worth it?

We visited the hotel four years ago.
The boathouses looked nice but were scattered in the inner garden(court) of the hotel, so everybody getting to the hotel can actually have an easy look at you on your mini-terrace...

Hi Joelle,

What did you think of the Imperial Boathouse? This will be our first visit to Koh Samui so any information on the hotel and recommended places to eat, visit etc., would be much appreciated.

Katie,
We were not impressed by the Imperial Boathouse hotel, but again it was a very quick visit.
The Central Samui beach hotel looked a lot better.

I'm hoping that because it's been renovated in the last year it'll be ok!

When we visited the place four years ago, it already looked a bit "tatty", meaning wall paintings were a bit old. However the garden was nicely kept.
Considering the balconies for the rooms, it did not appear that rooms were that large. Our guide at the time also implied that this place had gone down in terms of quality and that there were now better places in Samui.
Plus having the garden "covered" with the boathouses next to each other was not a positive point.
Again it was just a personal feeling. Things may also have changed since summer 97.
