Imaginative traveller tour company
Planning a trekking and kayaking tour in Thailand in January. Anyone hear anything about this company?
|
Anne I can't comment on the company but I seem to recall seeing some reviews on their trips on the Africa board so you may want to check there you may find some info on the company itself.
Happy travels J |
Anne..i am an Independent Traveller and also take tours at times!! And i have taken Imag. Traveller on 3 separate tours..Twice to India and once to Egypt. They are great fun..Small group, well organized...off the beaten track..I would recommend them.
Although..I always like to have up to a week after a tour, to do things on our own and rest..as these tours are usually really busy.. But u see so much and meet some great people!! Anyways, hope this helps! |
Come on guys, sometimes, taking a tour is a good idea! and imaginative traveller is probably one of the best companies around. In the UK they have an excellent reputation. I've taken 2 tours with them and can't complain. My husband also taken other tours and he loves them. So, go for it!
It's a good mix of people (not so young but no so old), they are not bossing you around all the time and plus you can choose to do as much or little as possible. Have fun! |
Thank you all so much for your imput. Because of your responses, I will proceed with booking a Thailand tour with I.T. ASAP

That's great, have fun..I have met some great people on I.T. tours..Infact, we are such good friends with our Tour Leader from India, that we are going to visit he and his family for the 3rd time in 2 years!!

What did you think of Imaginative Traveller? I'm going with them to Russia come September. I'm curious to hear what they were like.
|
Had a great time in Thailand with Im Trav. I had some worries about the "basic" hotels, but they were clean and well run. I loved our guide. She was knowledgeable, fun and went out of her way to make sure we were all taken care of. I don't know if this is the standard for this company, but she made it a very memorable trip. The travelers themselves were mostly from California or NZ/Australia. Although I would consider them for a trip in the future, i would go the next level up in level of comfort - overnight trains - yuck

Good to hear that you had a good time in Thailand. There's an overnight train on my pending Russian trip so I hope that I have a good experience.
I went on a tour to France with Cosmos last year. The tour was great but I wanted to see more of the local culture, which I hope to get with Imaginative Traveller. Thanks for sharing! |
We very much enjoyed our trip to Japan with IT a few years ago. We got to be such good friends with our guide that she visited us in Chicago and we got invited to her wedding in Denmark! As far as what to expect, IT is more like a logistics company than a tour guide company. They arrange hotels, transportation, a few excursions, and the guide accompanies you between places but mostly you are on your own for sightseeing and dining. We covered quite a bit but didn't feel especially rushed. The accomodations were sometimes basic but authentic which we liked. On our trip we liked our fellow group members very much. Many of them had been on other IT trips before. Sometimes we dined with them, sometimes on our own. Overall it was a great experience and a good value. Enjoy your trip!
