I need you help please - Japan!
 

I am trying to work out an itineary forJapan...and going around in circles! This is all I have so far eek! I'm going in April and yes I know this should have been booked...as well as a hundred other things!

Day 1 Kyoto
Day 2 Kyoto
Day 3 Kyoto
Day 4 Kyoto
Day 5 Travel to Mt Koya - Temple stay booked
Day 6 Back to Kyoto?
Day 7
Day 8
Day 9
Day 10
Day 11
Day 12 Tokyo
Day 13 Tokyo
Day 14 Tokyo
Day 15 Travel home

After Mount Koyashan I wasn't sure of where to go next, there is a festival on in Takayama on the 14th/15th although there is no accomodation availiable so would mean staying an hour away. I don't what the transport is like to and from. And then on to Matsumoto?

or the other alternative is Magome to Tsumago - the kiso valley trail. Again I doubt there is any accomodation at either of those places and I don't know about travel times. Can this be done in a day as it only is suppsed to take 2.5 hours and then move on elsewhere before Tokyo?

Lets start at Day 1. Are you flying into Osaka that day and then going to Kyoto? Or where/when are you getting to Japan? What day in April is that?

Where exactly would that place be that is an hour from Takayama?

Add in Hakone you could do this on the way to Tokyo - 1 night should be sufficient. You may have left it too late for some ryokans though... I booked mine 11 months out and got the last room!

Yes day 1, I fly into Osaka at 6:40am, 6th April, from Bangkok.

staying on the way to matsumoto, takayama shi base of Mt. Norikuradake or by Hirayu onsen? Is it worth it to go the bi-annual Takayama Festival?
