Hyatt Aryaduta Jakarata???

Just wondering if anyone has stayed at the Hyatt Aryaduta in Jakarta..... I am thinking about staying here or the sister hotel Grand Hyatt.... actually leaning towards Aryaduta, (seems more low key than the Grand), but I've not read or seen any reviews of this property....

Cheers

It's been a few years since I stayed there, but I would recommend it highly. Like you, I wanted to be someplace more low-key (and less expensive) than the Grand Hyatt. The service was wonderful, the rooms were very nice. I stayed in the Regency Club, and loved it.

the most elegant and best run hotel in jakarta is now the dharmawangsa. it's a boutique hotel (about 50 rooms) with a glorious pool area, fine health club and spa and 3 good restaurants. the rooms are among the most beautiful any where in the world. the dharmawangsa is owned by the same group as the mansion on turtle creek in dallas. they have very high standards.

aryaduta recently underwent a major renovation and it's also quite nice but it's still an older property. in indonesia that's not always good as things deteriorate rapidly in the tropics. grand hyatt has a flashy lobby, but a really lovely pool area. the best of the big hotels is the regent.

all of the hotels in jakarta are extremely empty. you should be able to get a really good deal anywhere.

Thanks for your replies Kathie and Momrath....

Just a question Momrath, I am coming from Seoul and am not sure what would be the best way to get good deals, as you said, hotels in Jakarta are pretty empty at the moment.

Momath, can you recommend a good website that you might have used, or should I just book when I arrive at the airport counter, or just chance it and just show up at the hotel and negotiate???

Thanks for advance - Korean travel agents seem virtually clueless about Indonesia....... (no offence).

Cheers

the hotels in jakarta are running about 15-20% occupancy so you will have no problem getting a room. the airport isn't particularly organized so you'd be better off making the reservation in advance or going directly to the hotel of your choice. 5 star hotel should be about us$100-120 a night. if you choose a multinational like hyatt, marriot, regent (4 seasons or shangrila you should be able to book through their website or associate hotel in seoul. i don't know your purpose for being in jakarta, but i can tell you the dharmawangsa is really a wonderful hotel in a less than wonderful city.
